Indodax Reveals Growing Contribution of Digital Asset Industry to the State, Crypto Taxes Reach Rp1.96 Trillion
Jakarta, VIVA – Indodax’s Chief Executive Officer, William Sutanto, stated that the crypto industry is currently not only developing in terms of investment but also actively contributing to state revenue through the fulfilment of tax obligations.
Based on data from the Directorate General of Taxation (DJP), crypto transaction taxes reached Rp1.96 trillion throughout 2022 to February 2026, comprising Rp1.09 trillion from PPh 22 and Rp875.31 billion from domestic VAT, forming part of the total digital economy taxes amounting to Rp48.11 trillion. The contribution of the crypto asset industry to state revenue continues to show a positive trend.
“The tax contribution reflects our commitment to fulfilling obligations as compliant crypto industry players in line with regulations. We view compliance as an important foundation for the sustainability of the crypto ecosystem in Indonesia, alongside increasing public adoption and the integration of the digital asset industry into a more formal national economic system,” said William, quoted from his statement on Friday, 10 April 2026.
In line with this data, during the same period, Indodax, as the market leader, recorded tax payments of Rp907.11 billion, comprising Rp520.16 billion from PPh 22 and Rp386.95 billion from VAT. This figure indicates that Indodax contributed approximately 46.3% of the total national crypto tax revenue, reflecting its active role in supporting compliance and industry growth.
Since the implementation of crypto taxes in May 2022, national crypto tax revenue has continued to show an increase, from Rp246.54 billion in 2022, Rp220.89 billion in 2023, Rp620.38 billion in 2024, Rp796.73 billion in 2025, and reaching Rp84.7 billion in early 2026.
On the other hand, total digital economy tax revenue is still dominated by the Electronic System-Based Trading (PMSE) sector at Rp37.40 trillion, followed by peer-to-peer lending fintech at Rp4.64 trillion and the Government Procurement Information System (SIPP) at Rp4.11 trillion. This shows that although the crypto contribution is still relatively smaller, its growth has been progressive since its implementation in 2022.
Looking ahead, the government has also affirmed that it will continue to strengthen supervision, expand the tax base, and increase business compliance through the optimisation of regulations and the utilisation of information technology. This step is believed to strengthen the foundation of the crypto industry while encouraging its contribution to the national economy.
