Indocement opens new school

JAKARTA (JP): Director of Private Schools of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Umaedi, inaugurated Bantarjati junior high school in Cileungsi, Bogor, yesterday.

Umaedi welcomed the private sector's participation in the establishment of more private schools to help the government carry out its nine-year compulsory education program.

"Only through assistance from the private sector can the compulsory education program, introduced four years ago, be completed in line with the schedule," he said.

President of cement producing company PT Indocement, Sudwikatmono, said the Bantarjati school, which was build on the company's compound, would emphasize discipline.

"Discipline is important in helping students become future leaders," he said.

The junior high school would be built on 7,650 square meters adjacent to another senior high school and polytechnic school, Sudwikatmono said. (27)
