Indo Livestock 2027 Officially Launched, Ministry of Agriculture Pushes Global Collaboration to Accelerate Investment and Downstreaming
The Ministry of Agriculture is continuing to strengthen the transformation of the livestock subsector through increased investment, downstream processing, and the use of modern technology to create an industry that is more competitive, value-added, and export-oriented. This commitment was reinforced through the launch of the Indo Livestock 2027 Expo & Forum, which is expected to serve as a platform for strategic collaboration between the government, businesses, academics, associations, investors, and international partners to accelerate national livestock development.
Carrying the theme ‘Expanding Opportunities, Empowering the Future’, Indo Livestock 2027 was officially launched at the Aloft Hotel in South Jakarta on Tuesday. The international exhibition is scheduled to take place from 21 to 23 July 2027 at Grand City Convex, Surabaya, East Java.
The launch was attended by representatives from ministries and institutions, embassies of friendly nations, associations, academics, business players, investors, and industry partners from home and abroad. The presence of these stakeholders signals the growing global attention towards the developing potential of Indonesia’s livestock subsector.
Director of Livestock Product Downstreaming at the Ministry of Agriculture, Makmun, stated that Indo Livestock has evolved beyond a mere exhibition. He described the international forum as a strategic space to bring together all actors in the livestock supply chain to build a modern, efficient, and sustainable industrial ecosystem.
‘Indo Livestock is an important momentum to strengthen synergy between the government, businesses, investors, academics, and international partners. Through this collaboration, the Ministry of Agriculture aims to accelerate investment, encourage the downstream processing of livestock products, expand technology adoption, and increase the added value of Indonesian livestock products to make them more competitive in both domestic and global markets,’ Makmun said.
Makmun emphasised that the current direction of livestock development is not solely focused on increasing production, but also on developing downstream industries that can create higher economic value for farmers and business actors.
‘The investment we are encouraging is not just about adding production capacity, but also about facilitating technology transfer, strengthening partnerships, developing processing industries, and opening wider market access. This way, the benefits of development can be felt from upstream to downstream, while improving the welfare of farmers,’ he stated.
He added that the Indo Livestock event is a crucial instrument in accelerating this transformation because it brings together innovation, investment, and business networks on a single platform that can foster new collaborations.
Project Director of PT Napindo Media Ashatama, Lisa Rusli, said the 2027 Indo Livestock event holds special significance as it marks the 20th edition and 25 years of Indo Livestock serving as a business and knowledge exchange platform for the livestock industry.
‘Indo Livestock 2027 is a very special moment for us. Entering its 20th edition and celebrating 25 years of Indo Livestock, we aim to continue providing a business and knowledge exchange platform for the livestock, feed, dairy processing, veterinary, fisheries, and aquaculture industries,’ Lisa said.
According to Lisa, Surabaya was chosen as the location due to the strong livestock ecosystem in East Java as a national production centre. This is expected to broaden the exhibition’s reach, open new investment opportunities, and strengthen partnerships for industry players in eastern Indonesia.
‘We hope that holding the event in Surabaya will open wider access for industry players, create more investment and partnership opportunities, and strengthen collaboration among all stakeholders to advance Indonesia’s livestock and animal health industries,’ she said.
Junior Sales Manager of PT Napindo Media Ashatama, Agnes Nilam, said preparations for Indo Livestock 2027 are starting early as a commitment to delivering a higher quality event following the high enthusiasm of participants at the previous edition.
‘We deliberately started preparations early because we believe a successful exhibition is born from careful planning. The industry’s enthusiasm at the 2026 event motivates us to present an even better and more beneficial Indo Livestock 2027 for all participants,’ Agnes said.
She explained that next year’s event is targeted to feature around 300 companies, attract participants and visitors from 30 countries, be supported by 10 country pavilions, and draw approximately 15,000 visitors. This target is based on the success of Indo Livestock 2026, which recorded more than 20,380 visitors, demonstrating the high interest of the business world in the development of Indonesia’s livestock industry.
In addition to the exhibition, Indo Livestock 2027 will also feature international seminars, business forums, business matching, and other strategic agendas that connect businesses with investors and policymakers. Strengthening the dairy, veterinary, fisheries, and aquaculture sectors will also be a focus of the event to meet the growing demand for technology, investment, and innovation in various agribusiness sectors.
For the Ministry of Agriculture, Indo Livestock 2027 is part of a strategy to accelerate the transformation of the livestock subsector into a modern, efficient, and globally competitive industry. Through synergy between the government, businesses, academics, associations, and international partners, the Ministry of Agriculture is optimistic that investment and downstream processing will continue to grow, thereby increasing the sector’s contribution to the national economy.
