The Indo Livestock 2026 Expo & Forum has officially opened at the Nusantara International Convention Exhibition (NICE) in PIK 2, Tangerang. The livestock and animal health industry exhibition features 600 participants from 30 countries, serving as a meeting point for business actors, government officials, academics, and investors to discuss the development of the national livestock sector.

Now in its 19th edition, Indo Livestock presents seven country pavilions: China, Europe, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam. A range of technologies, products, and innovations in livestock, animal feed, animal health, fisheries, and aquaculture are on display throughout the event.

The exhibition, organised by PT Napindo Media Ashatama with support from the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health (Ditjen PKH) of the Ministry of Agriculture, also provides a platform for promotion and business development in the livestock sector amid efforts to strengthen national food security.

On the first day, the Indo Livestock Grand Championship (ILGC) 2026 opened with a Garut Sheep Contest showcasing superior livestock from various regions. Director General of Livestock and Animal Health Agung Suganda stated that the event serves as a means to strengthen the development of smallholder farming while preserving local livestock genetic resources.

"For the first time in history, the Garut Sheep Agility Art is being held in an indoor format as part of the Indo Livestock Grand Championship 2026. This is not merely a change of venue, but a major step to bring smallholder farming and Indonesia’s livestock culture to a more modern, professional stage, and to make it more widely known to both national and international audiences," Agung said on Tuesday (16/6/2026).

According to Agung, the Garut sheep is a local breed with high economic and cultural value, developed by Indonesian farmers over generations through selective breeding.

Beyond the livestock contests, the exhibition also features various business and educational agendas, including seminars, focus group discussions, technical product presentations, and industry forums that connect business actors from different countries.

The organiser is also running an educational programme on animal protein consumption through the promotion of Milk, Meat, Eggs, and Fish (SDTI) under the theme "Balanced Nutrition for a Brilliant Generation." The programme aims to raise public awareness of the importance of consuming animal protein as part of efforts to build a healthy and productive generation.

The Indo Livestock Grand Championship series will continue until 18 June 2026, featuring the Garut Sheep Agility Art, Youth Farmer’s Day, an MSME bazaar, and various educational activities open to the general public.

Through this exhibition and industry forum, Indo Livestock is expected to strengthen the competitiveness of the national livestock sector while expanding the business networks of Indonesian enterprises with global markets.
