The Indonesian textile and garment industry is preparing to welcome the largest and most comprehensive exhibition in Southeast Asia, Indo Intertex & Inatex 2026. Entering its 22nd edition, this strategic exhibition is scheduled to take place from 15–18 April 2026 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.

As the only platform presenting the entire value chain of the industry comprehensively—from machinery, textile products, printing technology, to textile chemicals—this event serves as a driving force for the transformation of the national and regional textile sector. With an exhibition area exceeding 35,000 square metres, the event is projected to become a massive space for collaboration among global players.

This year’s organisation feels increasingly crucial following the signing of the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) between Indonesia and the United States. Through the tariff-rate quota (TRQ) scheme, Indonesian textile and garment products now enjoy zero per cent import tariff facilities into the US market.

This policy is expected to boost the national export value, currently at USD 4 billion (equivalent to approximately Rp64 trillion), towards a target of tenfold growth in the next decade. The sector also forms the backbone of the economy, supporting around 4 million direct workers and impacting 20 million Indonesians.

The General Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API), Jemmy Kartiwa Sastraatmadja, emphasised that this momentum is a turning point. “The implementation of zero per cent tariffs provides new optimism. Access to global markets is increasingly open, strengthening Indonesia’s competitiveness at the right time to encourage investment and revitalise the TPT industrial ecosystem,” he said.

Director of PT Peraga Expo, Paul Kingsen, explained that the exhibition is designed to address the real needs of the industry. “We are bringing relevant suppliers and reliable technology to help industry players make quick decisions. The current market focus is on efficiency, innovation, and sustainable manufacturing,” said Paul.

In addition to business transactions through the business matching programme, visitors can also participate in various educational and creative programmes.

With the integration of the latest machine technology, quality raw materials, and market insights, Indo Intertex & Inatex 2026 is expected not only to be an exhibition event but also a catalyst for the Indonesian textile industry to compete at the highest level in the international market.

CEO Danantara Rosan Perkasa Roeslani revealed that the government is studying the establishment of a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) in the textile sector.

The Indonesian Garment and Textile Association (AGTI) held a meeting with officials from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise to discuss various strategic issues in strengthening the national textile industry ecosystem from upstream to downstream.

Small and medium industry players (IKM) in Bandung City are ready to expand export markets, especially through manufacturing partnerships with creative industry players in Australia.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa revealed the identities of mafia involved in smuggling textiles, steel, and other goods, who are ready to be arrested.

Up to the first quarter of 2025, new investments in the textile industry sector reached Rp5.40 trillion, absorbing an additional 1,907 workers and maintaining total employment at 3.76 million people.
