India's PM Modi: My Friendship with Prabowo Transcends Copyright

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that he and President Prabowo Subianto share an exceptionally close friendship.

This was revealed during his visit to the House of Representatives (DPR RI) building in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, 7 July 2026. During the visit, Modi met with the Speaker of the House, Puan Maharani, in the presence of President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Modi initially referred to his meeting with Prabowo at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on the morning of Tuesday, 7 July 2026. He remarked that his friendship with Prabowo transcends the boundaries of copyright or ownership.

“This morning, President Prabowo mentioned copyright. I simply told the President that no one holds copyright or ownership over such love, this friendship, and this mutual respect,” Modi said in his speech.

“My friendship with President Prabowo transcends all boundaries of ownership or copyright,” he continued.

Furthermore, Modi expressed that he felt honoured by the recognition bestowed upon him by Prabowo.

“On behalf of the entire Indian people, I convey and accept this token of appreciation from Indonesia to the people of India,” he explained.

Modi described the award as a symbol of the friendship between Indonesia and India, as well as respect for the democratic and cultural values of both nations.

“I express my most sincere gratitude to President Prabowo, to the government, and to the people of Indonesia,” he said.

During the ceremony, Modi received the country’s highest honour, the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna, from President Prabowo.
