India's PM Modi: My Friendship with Prabowo Transcends Copyright

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that he and President Prabowo Subianto share an exceptionally close friendship. He made the remarks during a visit to the House of Representatives (DPR) building in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, 7 July 2026. During the visit, Modi met with Speaker of the House Puan Maharani, and was joined by President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Modi initially touched upon his meeting with Prabowo at the Merdeka Palace earlier that morning. He said his friendship with Prabowo goes beyond the limits of copyright or ownership. “This morning President Prabowo spoke about copyright. I told the President that no one has a copyright or ownership over this love, this friendship, and this mutual respect,” Modi said in his speech. “My friendship with President Prabowo transcends all boundaries of ownership or copyright,” he continued. Modi further revealed that he felt honoured by the award given by Prabowo. “I convey on behalf of all the people of India, and I accept this token of honour from Indonesia to all the people of India,” he explained. Modi described the award as a symbol of the friendship between Indonesia and India and a tribute to the shared values of democracy and culture. “I express my most sincere gratitude to President Prabowo, to the government, and to the people of Indonesia,” Modi said. Modi received the country’s highest honour, the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna, from Prabowo.
