Indian textile firms take part in expo
JAKARTA: A group of 34 Indian textile companies, including manufacturers and exporters, will partake in the Asian Global Sourcing Exhibition, to be held between March 14 and 16 in Jakarta.
The Indian embassy in Jakarta said in a statement on Tuesday that the sizable Indian participation underscores the significance the Indian textile industry as a whole attaches to the event.
India is one of the world's leading exporters of textile with exports reaching US$16.7 billion during 2001-2002, it said.
The Indian group will present a fashion event showcasing Indian textile products, with models including Miss Universe of 2000, Lara Dutta; Mrs. World, Aditi Govitrikar; the current Miss India, Neha Dhupia; along with Swetha Menon, Deepanita Sharma, and Tarun Raghavan. -- JP
