Indian PM Modi to Visit Prambanan Temple for Restoration Cooperation

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Indonesia as a reciprocal visit following President Prabowo Subianto’s trip to India last year. The two leaders will follow up on and sign a number of cooperation agreements across various sectors. “There will be several agreements and MoUs that will be discussed and signed tomorrow. But the essence is that the two heads of state also have a personal chemistry, and this is a step towards strengthening the brotherhood and friendship between Indonesia and India,” said Foreign Minister Sugiono to reporters at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, on Monday (6/7/2026). Seven cooperation agreements are planned to be concluded between Indonesia and India. The cooperation covers the defence, health, and education sectors. “Priorities are in various fields, including defence, education, health, and also technology development,” he stated. Modi will be received by President Prabowo at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/7). As with other state guest meetings, Prabowo and PM Modi will hold a tête-à-tête and bilateral talks. In addition, PM Modi is scheduled to visit Yogyakarta to see Prambanan Temple. This visit follows up on the restoration or conservation cooperation that was previously discussed. “He plans to visit Prambanan Temple because one of the agreements reached between Indonesia and India is an effort to carry out the restoration of Prambanan Temple,” he said.
