Indian Investor To Build Steel Plant
TEMPO Interactive, PALANGKARAYA:An Indian investor will soon build a steel plant in Central Kalimantan’s Lamandau, as it is the biggest ore producer in the province.
According to Central Kalimantan governor Teras Narang, an MoU is scheduled to be signed by both parties this week. “Central Kalimantan does not want to just sell the ore outside the province and leave open holes because there was no land rehabilitation,” Teras Narang said following his meeting with the Indian investor in Palangkaraya, last Saturday.
Hence, he said, the provincial administration has asked each investor who wants to invest in ore in the province to build a plant. “So as to empower the local residents and provide welfare for them,” the governor said. “The fund will come from the Indian investor. The provincial administration should facilitate the licenses.”
