Indian dance festival in four cities
DENPASAR, Bali: A festival of classic and popular Indian
dances will tour four Indonesian cities between Oct. 18 and Nov.
4, organizers said.
A 100-strong Indian dance troupe will make its first stop in
Denpasar, before moving to Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Bandung. The
cultural mission is aimed at boosting ties between the two
countries.
Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Shyam Saram met with Bali
Governor Dewa Beratha in Denpasar on Wednesday to discuss
preparations for the event.
The spokesman for the provincial administration, I Gde
Nurjaya, said the arts mission was being sponsored by Indian
businesspeople in Indonesia.
He said there would be at least seven dances performed,
including a collaboration between Indian and Balinese dancers. --
