The Indian Consul General in Medan, Ravi Shanker Goel, has emphasised the importance of broadening economic cooperation between India and Indonesia via various trade and investment initiatives implemented over the past year.

Ravi stated that strengthening economic relations is one of the main priorities. He explained that the Consulate has actively facilitated visits by Indian business delegations to Medan and several other cities within its jurisdiction.

“Through these visits, networking meetings and business-to-business (B2B) sessions have been held, bringing together Indian and Indonesian companies to exchange ideas, explore market opportunities, and establish partnerships,” he said during an interaction with the media on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

He assessed that such engagements help reinforce commercial ties between the two countries while promoting broader cooperation in trade, services, manufacturing, and investment sectors.

In addition, the Consul General highlighted the scope of the Consulate’s jurisdiction, which covers ten provinces on the island of Sumatra. Over the past year, various activities have been conducted in several regions, including North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Bengkulu, South Sumatra, Aceh, Riau Islands, Jambi, and Riau.

“The role of media from various cities such as Medan, Padang, Bengkulu, Palembang, Aceh, Jambi, and Riau Islands has made a significant contribution to disseminating information and raising awareness about India-Indonesia relations,” Ravi said.

The Consul General affirmed that these activities reflect India’s ongoing commitment to strengthening partnerships with Indonesia across various fields.

“These efforts also deepen mutual understanding and strengthen friendly relations between the peoples of both countries,” he added.
