NEW DELHI (Reuters): India's Davis Cup World Group playoff tie against the United States scheduled for next week has been postponed in the wake of Tuesday's terror attacks in New York and Washington DC, an Indian official said on Friday.
"The tie has been postponed to be played from Oct. 12 to 14," Dr Vece Paes, the father of India's leading player Leander Paes and team doctor, told Reuters by phone from Calcutta.
The fresh dates for the tie, which was to have been held from September 21-23 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, were decided at a meeting between Anil Khanna, secretary of the All India Tennis Association (AITA), and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) officials, he said.
