India awards insurance permit

NEW DELHI (AFX-ASIA): Tokio Marine and Fire Insurance Co's
joint venture with Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Ltd has
been given a license for non-life insurance business, said
Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority member H Ansari.

Ansari told AFX-Asia that Tokio Marine-IFFCO was given the
license yesterday.

IFFCO-Tokio Marine is the sixth private sector company to get
a license since the domestic insurance sector was privatized.
