India-ASEAN car rally to start
The first India-ASEAN car rally will be held to hike public awareness of the latest opportunities in trade, tourism, infrastructure development and cultural exchanges, organizers said on Thursday.
The non-competitive event starts in Guwahati, India on Nov. 22 and is scheduled to end in Batam, Indonesia on Dec. 11.
According to Singapore Tourism Board, more than 300 participants in 60 cars will drive through eight of the 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries before arriving in Singapore.
Spearheaded by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and the Confederation of Indian Industry, the rally is also designed to promote the land connectivity of India and the ASEAN countries.
ASEAN groups Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar (Burma). -DPA
