Independence or death
Independence or death
From Media Indonesia
The motto "Independence or death" was very popular during the
period of struggle for independence. In essence it means that
Indonesians were determined to free themselves from the shackles
of foreign colonialists.
Even today this motto should also prevail and encourage the
government to do everything for the prosperity of all
Indonesians.
This means that the government of an independent Indonesia
must be able to ensure that the Indonesian people can afford
their daily needs and other facilities like electricity and
telephone lines.
It is true that Indonesia is no longer under foreign colonial
rule, but it is a reality, too, that this independence has yet to
bring prosperity to the people.
