To commemorate Independence Month, the South Sulawesi Youth Association (HPSS), together with the Indonesian Association of Anaesthesia Nurses (HIPANI) DKI Jakarta, Thalassemia Movement, and Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), held a humanitarian action in Rawa Bunga Urban Village, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, on Sunday (23/8/2026). The event, titled “Jejak Langkah Kemanusiaan: Dari Hati Pemuda untuk Denyut Nadi Negeri” (Footsteps of Humanity: From the Hearts of Youth for the Pulse of the Nation), featured a blood donation drive and Basic Life Support (BHD) education for local residents. Representing the Chairman of HPSS, Luqmanul Hakim said the event was intended to nurture social solidarity within urban communities while helping to meet the blood needs of patients, particularly thalassemia survivors. “This activity is a manifestation of HPSS’s commitment to continuously move and make an impact. We interpret the spirit of independence within the framework of mutual cooperation to help others,” said Luqmanul in Jakarta on Sunday (23/8/2026). In addition to blood donation, local residents received BHD training. HIPANI DKI Jakarta Chairman and Committee Chairman Rusman Wahyu Setiawan explained that the education is important to equip the public with initial handling skills when facing medical emergencies. “We hope the public will not only participate in donating blood but also gain Basic Life Support knowledge so they can provide proper initial assistance before health workers arrive,” Rusman explained. The social action was also attended by RSCM Blood Service Unit representative Dr Mustafa, HPSS Advisory Board member Andi Agung, and local RT/RW administrators. The organisers hope this cross-organisational synergy can continue to expand the reach of health education and social activities for the community.
