Independence fighter rushed to hospital

A week before the 60th independence anniversary, independence fighter Surastri Karma Trimurti was admitted to Cikini Hospital in Central Jakarta on Monday for an unknown illness. A tenant in her house said Trimurti, 93, had complained about rashes on her foot as well as a fever. "We don't know what illness she is suffering from. She screamed and murmured before we admitted her to the hospital," the tenant, Winda, said. A Cikini Hospital doctor said a medical team was still examining Trimurti, who is one of just a handful of survivors who were involved in the country's proclamation of independence on Aug. 17, 1945. -- Antara
