Independence Day ceremony participant praises swift aid delivery to NTT
A participant at the 81st Independence Day commemoration ceremony, Gema Goeyardi, has praised President Prabowo Subianto’s swift action in sending aid in response to the impact of a magnitude 7.7 earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
According to a statement from the Government Communication Agency (Bakom) received in Jakarta on Monday, Gema Goeyardi, who was met after attending the ceremony in the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta today, expressed his condolences to the communities affected by the earthquake in NTT.
Gema Goeyardi appreciated Prabowo’s attention to the disaster, which demonstrated the government’s presence among communities facing a difficult time.
“We appreciate Mr Prabowo’s swift action in immediately sending aid on the same day. The aid has already arrived at the scene,” he said.
He considered President Prabowo’s rapid response in sending aid worthy of appreciation, given that government assistance was dispatched on the same day as the incident, namely on Saturday (15/8).
Gema expressed hope that the aid would help ease the burden on residents and support the disaster response efforts on the ground.
He also urged the public to pray for the safety and strength of all affected residents.
At the same time, Gema assessed that the 81st Independence Day commemoration was extraordinary. The enthusiasm of the public present around the Merdeka Palace showed that love for Indonesia remains strong.
“This year’s 81st anniversary celebration of the Republic of Indonesia is extraordinary. Amid hoaxes and the impression that Indonesia is gloomy, it turns out that here we see there are still many people who love this country,” he said.
He also highlighted the public’s reception when President Prabowo appeared during the independence commemoration. The cheers and applause from residents, he said, reflected both support and public optimism about the nation’s journey.
Nevertheless, he reminded that Indonesia still faces various challenges, including geopolitical changes and pressures in the world.
Therefore, the spirit of unity seen in the Independence Day commemoration is expected not to stop at the celebratory atmosphere, but to be maintained in facing the nation’s various problems.
He then invited all members of the public to pray for President Prabowo Subianto so that he is always granted health and strength in leading Indonesia.
