Independence Day Carnival in Wates Tomorrow, Several Roads to Be Closed

A number of roads in Wates, Kulon Progo, will be closed for the 81st Independence Day carnival tomorrow. The following traffic arrangements will apply.

The 81st Independence Day carnival will be held from Taman Budaya Kulon Progo to Taman Wates on Saturday (22/8). The carnival begins at 08.00 WIB and runs until it concludes.

The Kulon Progo Police Traffic Unit has announced that several road sections will be closed.

“In connection with the holding of the Carnival Competition for the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in 2026, traffic engineering, temporary closure of a number of road sections, and traffic diversion will be implemented in the Wates area and its surroundings,” the Kulon Progo Police Traffic Unit stated on its Instagram account on Friday (21/8/2026).

The carnival route starts from Taman Budaya Kulon Progo to Pasar Wates. The carnival will pass through Simpang Tiga Dayakan, Simpang Taman Wanawinulang, the Ministry of Religious Affairs office, Simpang Kodim 0731 Kulon Progo, the Regent’s official residence, and the DPRD office.

“A number of junctions and road sections along the route will be temporarily closed,” the statement continued.

The following junctions will be closed:

• Simpang Tiga Margosari

• Simpang Empat Jl Kawijo

• Simpang Empat Kodim

• Simpang Tiga Adyaksa

• Simpang Tiga Pojok Gereja Katolik

• Simpang Sanum

• Simpang Tiga Masjid Bangun Ummah

• Simpang Tiga Toko Mas Satria

• Simpang Empat Driyan
