Indef: Wage Subsidy Assistance Can Help Maintain Public Purchasing Power
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Eko Listyanto, an economist from the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef), believes that the government’s planned Wage Subsidy Assistance (BSU) policy can help maintain public purchasing power, particularly for the lower class.
“Looking at the current conditions, the BSU is indeed very necessary for the community, especially the lower class,” Eko stated when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Monday.
According to him, domestic consumption remains under pressure due to various rising price trends. From the supply side, factors such as El Niño and global geopolitical instability have led to increased costs for essential raw materials, including plastics and fuel.
“Therefore, assistance in the form of wages can effectively be said to help,” he said.
