Indef Hopes Economic Growth Task Force Will Boost Inter-Ministerial Synergy
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef) hopes that the Economic Growth Task Force will strengthen synergy and coordination among ministries to support government stimulus programmes and the national economy.
“If I may suggest, focus on inter-ministerial coordination first, then identify each ministry’s roles in promoting investment and improving export performance—what needs to be done, how the budget should be allocated, and what key performance indicators should be established for evaluation,” said Indef Executive Director Esther Sri Astuti when contacted in Jakarta on Friday.
Furthermore, this coordination is expected to identify the roles of each ministry in overseeing poverty reduction, unemployment, and strengthening people’s purchasing power.
Esther added that this is important because the impacts of the war between Iran and the United States-Israel are already being felt in the industrial sector and consumer purchasing power in the market, thus requiring quick and agile mitigation.
Contacted separately, Executive Director of the Center of Economic and Law Studies (Celios) Bhima Yudhistira Adhinegara said that one priority for the Economic Growth Task Force should be providing the most accurate and up-to-date data for beneficiaries of national economic stimulus programmes.
“The task force’s function that must also be prioritised is updating data on recipients of government aid or stimulus. Do not forget that the middle class should also receive stimulus,” said Bhima.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto formed the Government Programme Acceleration Task Force to support increased economic growth, led by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto as Co-Chair I.
In addition to coordinating the acceleration of government programme implementation to support economic growth, the task force is also tasked with establishing integrated and collaborative strategic steps for accelerating government programme implementation to support economic growth.
Furthermore, it conducts monitoring and evaluation of budget realisation supporting government programme implementation, as well as establishing breakthrough strategic problem-solving steps quickly and accurately.
