Indecent Couple in Online Taxi Now on Police Radar
Jakarta - A couple was caught engaging in an indecent act inside an online taxi in the Cipulir area of Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. The couple is now under police scrutiny. The driver, identified only as AR, recounted the initial moment he grew suspicious of the alleged improper behaviour by his two passengers. He said that while on a trip from Central Jakarta to South Jakarta, he became wary halfway through the journey when the female passenger repeatedly lay down and rested her head on the man’s lap. To confirm his suspicions, AR adjusted the centre rear-view mirror and claimed to have witnessed the indecent act taking place between them.
“I started lowering the centre mirror, I lowered the centre mirror. That’s when I began to admonish them,” AR explained to reporters on Thursday (12 February). AR said the passengers initially ignored his warning and remained in their original positions. However, after he raised his voice, the female passenger began to sit up. He claimed to have noticed that their clothing was dishevelled. “I saw the woman’s clothes were all messed up. The man’s trousers were also not properly arranged,” he revealed.
AR also explained that he did not want to act rashly by immediately asking the passengers to leave, as this could affect the orders assigned to his account. On the other hand, he justified uploading a video of the alleged indecent act, stating that he only wanted to educate online taxi passengers to behave courteously towards one another.
Gojek has taken firm action against the couple. The accounts of the online taxi passengers have now been permanently blocked. “Based on the investigation, it was confirmed that the passengers committed a violation. We have suspended or permanently blocked the passenger’s account,” said Head of Corporate Affairs for ODS, Rosel Lavina, in a statement on Sunday (15 February 2026).
She explained that this step was taken to prevent such incidents from recurring and to ensure the company’s ecosystem remains safe and free from indecent acts and other forms of violations. “We also urge driver partners to report any violations through official channels, such as the help page in the Gojek Driver app. In emergency situations, both driver partners and customers can use the emergency button in the app, which connects directly to Gojek’s Emergency Unit/Task Force, available 24 hours a day,” she added.
“Gojek is committed to providing a safe ecosystem for both customers and driver partners. This is achieved through a series of preventive measures and strict enforcement against violators,” she continued.
