Vehicle traffic from the west or Jakarta entering Semarang through the Kalikangkung toll gate has been observed to be increasing. From morning until evening, approximately 1,500 vehicles per hour have been recorded passing through.

The Head of Security at Kalikangkung Toll Gate, Senior Police Commissioner (AKP) Dimas, stated that this figure represents an increase compared to Friday 13 March, which recorded 900 to 1,000 vehicles per hour.

“Traffic has increased, however it remains manageable,” said AKP Dimas, according to Antara news agency, on Saturday 14 March 2026.

According to him, the queue of vehicles exiting the toll gate remains relatively short a week before Eid 2026.

He explained that with such traffic volumes, 17 toll booths have been opened. These consist of eight main booths and nine satellite booths.

Up to a week before Eid, he stated, vehicles with three or more axles passing through the toll road from the western region have been significantly reduced.

“At several toll exit points, traffic diversions have been implemented, so the volume passing through the Kalikangkung gate has been greatly reduced,” he said.

The Joint Ministerial Decision on Road Traffic and Crossing Arrangements during the 2026 Eid Transport Period regulates the prohibition of vehicles with three or more axles from 13 to 29 March 2029.

Nevertheless, these regulations do not apply to certain commercial transport vehicles, such as those carrying petroleum fuel (BBM), liquefied petroleum gas (BBG), livestock, fertiliser, disaster relief supplies, and essential goods.
