Increase Scholarship Quota: Kepri Provincial Government Opens Registration Until 2 June
Tanjungpinang (ANTARA) - The Riau Islands Provincial Government (Pemprov Kepri) has increased the quota for higher education scholarship recipients in 2026 for D-III, D-IV/S1, and S2 levels, with a total allocated budget of Rp3 billion.
Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad stated that the total number of scholarship recipients this year is projected to reach 1,212 participants, an increase of 25 people (2.1 percent) compared to 1,187 recipients in 2025.
“This programme represents the ongoing commitment of the Riau Islands Provincial Government to improve the quality of human resources,” said Governor Ansar Ahmad in Tanjungpinang on Wednesday.
Ansar emphasised that this year, the Provincial Government is giving special attention to the principle of social justice. The largest increase in scholarship quotas is directed towards underprivileged student groups.
Meanwhile, the quota for D-IV/S1 underprivileged students has increased by 19.7 percent, with a total of 632 recipients compared to 528 in the previous year. The S2 prestigious category has also seen an increase to 20 quotas.
The amount of education cost assistance for each level is as follows: D-III, D-IV, and S1 prestigious and underprivileged, each receiving a scholarship of Rp2.5 million.
“For S2 prestigious, each participant can receive a scholarship of Rp4 million,” he explained.
Ansar added that registration for the scholarships has been open since 6 April until 2 June 2026.
For students from Kepri, whether studying within the region or outside, they can register through the official portal beasiswa.kepriprov.go.id.
Governor Ansar hopes that with this scholarship, no more children of the region will face financial obstacles in pursuing higher education, so they can contribute to building Kepri in the future.
The following are the scholarship recipient quotas for higher education students in Kepri 2026:
D-III prestigious: 50 recipients
D-III underprivileged: 50 recipients
D-IV/S1 prestigious within Kepri: 260 recipients
D-IV/S1 underprivileged (prestigious) within Kepri: 632 recipients
D-IV/S1 prestigious outside Kepri: 200 recipients
S2 prestigious within Kepri: 20 recipients.
