Including Febrie Ardiansyah, Two Suspects Named in Coal Case

Police have officially named former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah as a suspect. This was revealed by the Head of the Corruption Crime Task Force (Kakortas Tipidkor) of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, during a joint press conference with the House of Representatives and the Jampidsus at the Attorney General’s Office in South Jakarta on Saturday afternoon. Also present at the press conference was the Junior Attorney General for Supervision, Rudi Margono, who as of today serves as the acting Jampidsus, replacing Febrie, who has resigned. Rudi Margono stated that Febrie has been named a suspect in three cases of alleged corruption and money laundering, which were previously investigated jointly by the Police Corruption Crime Task Force and the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police. Besides Febrie, authorities have also named DR, a private sector individual, as a suspect. Totok stated that the naming of Febrie Ardiansyah and DR as suspects followed searches of more than a dozen locations, the examination of 15 witnesses, and the questioning of two experts. ‘We have conducted a case review. Based on the case review, we have named two suspects: Mr DR, who is suspected of committing money laundering offences believed to originate from corruption,’ said Totok. ‘We have also named Mr FA as a suspect in cases of alleged corruption and money laundering, in the legal handling process by civil servants or state officials in the PT Asabri case, and/or other corruption offences, as referred to in Article 12d, 12B of the Corruption Eradication Law, and Article 3, 4 of the Money Laundering Law, or currently Article 607 paragraph 1a and b of the Criminal Code,’ Totok continued. On that occasion, Margono stated that his office is synergising with the police regarding the handling of the three corruption cases. He also explained that the handling of the cases will be transferred to the Attorney General’s Office. ‘We will formally accept the transfer of the three cases today, as a form of commitment to accelerate professionalism and synergy in handling, because the public is waiting for the resolution of these cases,’ said Rudi Margono. He confirmed that even though the cases have been transferred to the Jampidsus, his office will continue to coordinate with the police. ‘Although transferred to the Jampidsus, we will continue to coordinate with the Kakortas Tipikor to ensure a definite resolution,’ he added.
