A dupa storage warehouse in Banjar Dinas Kalibalang, Payangan Village, Marga Subdistrict, Tabanan, caught fire on Sunday (31 May 2026) afternoon. The blaze is suspected to have been caused by embers from incense used during a prayer ceremony.

Marga Police Chief AKP I Nyoman Sudarma stated the warehouse belonged to I Dewa Gede Diksa Asmara, the victim. The fire was first noticed by NMY (51), a witness.

“At around 2 PM, Witness I was conducting a prayer ceremony at the warehouse and engaged in a community activity, while the victim was working in his fields,” Sudarma said.

By 3 PM, a resident spotted smoke rising from the warehouse and alerted others. Some residents rang the kentongan (a traditional Balinese kulkul) to gather the community for manual firefighting efforts, while firefighters were also contacted.

“After 20 minutes, firefighters arrived on scene and began extinguishing the blaze. The fire was fully put out by 5:30 PM,” he added.

Following the scene investigation, authorities believe the fire was sparked by incense embers falling onto the wrapping paper during a Purnama prayer ritual.

“The victim has suffered estimated losses of Rp 400 million,” Sudarma concluded.
