Inauguration of AKBP F as Head of Medical and Health Division of West Sumatra Police Cancelled Following Alleged Harassment of Policewoman

The plan to install AKBP F as Head of the Medical and Health Division (Kabid Dokkes) at the West Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumbar) has been abruptly cancelled.

The decision was taken after the mid-ranking National Police officer underwent questioning over alleged sexual violence against a policewoman (polwan). The cancellation of the installation was announced directly by the Deputy Chief of West Sumatra Regional Police, Brigadier General Solihin.

According to him, AKBP F was originally due to be installed on Tuesday, 28 July 2026. However, the handover ceremony was not proceeded with as the officer concerned is currently facing an examination process.

“The post (of Head of the Medical and Health Division) was not handed over (to AKBP F),” he said, quoted on Wednesday, 29 July 2026.

He stressed that the move forms part of the National Police institution’s commitment to act on every alleged violation, regardless of position or rank.

As previously reported, the West Sumatra Regional Police had ordered the Professional and Internal Security Division (Propam) to investigate the alleged harassment reported by a policewoman as the victim.

“The Chief of West Sumatra Regional Police has taken a firm stance and ordered the Head of the Propam Division to follow up on this matter,” said the Head of the Public Relations Division of West Sumatra Regional Police, Chief Commissioner Susmelawati Rosya, when contacted in Padang on Monday.

She stated that the order to Propam is proof that Inspector General Djati Wiyoto Abadhy, as leader of the West Sumatra Regional Police, is serious about addressing the matter.

According to Susmelawati, the regional police chief has also made clear that he will not tolerate violations committed by members; anyone who breaches the rules will be dealt with firmly.

“The examination currently being carried out by Propam is evidence of that firm stance, processing the case in accordance with National Police ethics and discipline,” she said.
