Inaugurating Semarang Shopping Centre, Ahmad Luthfi Says Central Java is an Investment Magnet Amid Global Pressures

Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi has expressed pride in the flow of investment into his region, stating that attracting investment amid global fiscal pressures and geopolitical conditions is no small feat. He made the remarks after inaugurating the 23 Semarang Shopping Center and laying the first stone for Hyatt Place in Semarang on Saturday (13/6/2026). “At a time of fiscal pressure and global geopolitics, our ability to bring in investment is not something to be taken lightly,” he said. He explained that the Central Java Provincial Government consistently strives to build investor confidence. “Going forward, Central Java is one of the provinces that attracts interest as a gateway for investment in Indonesia and internationally. Our foreign direct investment is almost 58 percent,” he stated. According to Luthfi, in addition to the agricultural sector supporting food self-sufficiency targets, investment in the industrial sector must also be accelerated. “We currently have only 12 industrial estates. I will add another 10. I have instructed regents and mayors to create their own industrial estates,” he said. He claimed the provincial government facilitates the development of industrial estates. “Industrial estates already use a one-kit system. Licensing is easy, land is assured, and customs clearance is handled through a single door. That is what makes it attractive and easy for us to implement,” Luthfi concluded.
