Inaugurates 119 Civil Servants, Bontang Mayor Emphasises ASN Career Development Based on Merit
In the oath-taking and inauguration of functional officials, the Bontang City Government emphasised that creating an effective bureaucratic system begins with proportional employee placement according to their field of expertise. Bontang Mayor Neni Moerniaeni directly led the oath ceremony at the Pendopo of the Mayor’s Office on Friday, 8 May 2026.
This sacred agenda for the apparatus was witnessed by Deputy Mayor Agus Haris, assistants, special staff, the BKPSDM apparatus, and other regional device heads. The government officially administered the oath to a total of 119 individuals, comprising 112 CPNS and 7 active PNS.
Concurrently, 104 functional officials were inaugurated, namely 52 at the First Expert Position and 52 at the Skilled Position. Mayor’s Decree Number 800.1.2.5/562 to 673/BKPSDM/2026 and SK Number 800.1.3.3/757 to 861/BKPSDM/2026 serve as the legal basis for this activity.
Mayor Neni explained that the city’s personnel management vision is heavily reliant on work competency integrity. The Bontang City Government stated an unwavering commitment to supporting career development through a merit system based on performance evaluation.
With increasingly healthy competition, functional officials are required to transform into engines of innovation in public services that can work independently. “Digital literacy, managerial capacity, and socio-cultural intelligence are the primary requirements for superior ASN in the future,” said Neni.
Given the complexity of work, newly appointed ASN are prohibited from viewing the agency as a comfort zone but must work even better. They are instructed to bring new ideas and act swiftly in facing work pressures in the era of artificial intelligence (AI) onslaught.
“Thank you to the support of the families who accompany the dedication of these public servants,” said Neni.
