Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Special Advisor to the President for Labour and Labour Welfare, Said Iqbal, has stated that he will soon submit reports and present views regarding labour welfare to the President, including critical issues surrounding worker well-being.

“There are several matters that I will report to the President, through coordination with the Minister of the State Secretariat,” said Said Iqbal, according to a statement from the Presidential Secretariat released in Jakarta on Monday.

One of the key points to be reported to the President concerns the eight per cent economic growth target. According to him, this growth must be balanced with an even redistribution of wealth.

“In our view, growth must be balanced with equitable wealth redistribution, equality of opportunity, and ensuring everyone has a chance. To put it simply, you may become wealthy, but do not impoverish us,” Said told journalists following his inauguration today.

Regarding labour welfare, Said Iqbal believes that future welfare must encompass job security, income certainty, and social security. These perspectives, he noted, will be presented to the President to serve as material for policy analysis.

Furthermore, Said Iqbal will also convey his views regarding fair wages for labourers, as well as the protection required by migrant workers, who currently still necessitate state protection.

“These are the matters we will present to the President in the form of advice, opinions, ideas, and policy analysis. Naturally, I will approach several ministers to discuss these issues,” he added.

Previously, Said Iqbal was inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto as the Special Advisor to the President for Labour and Labour Welfare in a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace today.

Alongside Said Iqbal, Nanik S. Deyang was also inaugurated as the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), with Agustina Arumsari and Retired Major General TNI Trenggono appointed as Deputy Heads of the BGN.
