Inaugural Rasuna Said Car-Free Day to Be Held This Weekend

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will hold Hari Bebas Kendaraan Bermotor (HBKB), or Car-Free Day (CFD), in the Jalan HR Rasuna Said area, South Jakarta, on Sunday (10/5/2026). This event will also serve as part of the launch of the City of Jakarta’s 499th Anniversary (HUT).

“Rasuna Said will be prepared as a car-free day similar to Sudirman-Thamrin,” said DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, quoted from the official Infocarfreeday website.

This statement confirms the DKI Provincial Government’s plan to add a CFD location in Jakarta, besides the Sudirman-Thamrin area which has long been the centre of community activities every weekend.

Acting Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Department Ujang Harmawan said that the HBKB will be implemented on several segments of Jalan HR Rasuna Said, both on the eastern and western sides.

“For the eastern side of Jalan HR Rasuna Said, HBKB will apply from the Gembira Junction to the Raya Casablanca Junction. Meanwhile, on the western side, it will apply from the Prof. Dr. Satrio Junction to the Setiabudi Utara Raya Junction,” Ujang stated in his remarks.

The DKI Transportation Department has also prepared several alternative routes to anticipate traffic congestion during the CFD.

2. Direction from Kampung Melayu to Tanah Abang/Karet

3. Direction from Tanah Abang/Karet to Manggarai

4. Direction from Tanah Abang/Karet to Kampung Melayu

5. Direction from Menteng to Kuningan

6. Direction from Kuningan to Menteng

To support the event, the DKI Transportation Department has also provided 3,687 parking slots around the CFD location. This number consists of 1,680 car parking spaces and 2,007 motorcycle parking spaces.
