The State Mosque in the Nusantara Capital (IKN) area held its first Eid al-Fitr prayer for 1447 Hijriah on Saturday (21/3/2026). The congregational Eid al-Fitr prayer at the IKN State Mosque began at 06:30 WITA and was open to the general public who wished to experience worship in the atmosphere of the future government centre. According to the YouTube channel of Tribun Kaltim Official, the majority of worshippers arrived with their families. Worshippers had already filled the mosque area since 04:00 WITA, dominated by four-wheeled vehicles. Density was evident from the main gate of the mosque to the parking area. For residents living in worker housing or civil servant apartments, an intra-city shuttle bus service was available to reach the mosque. These buses operated from 05:00 to 09:00 WITA, providing pickups from stops at Rusun ASN 1 to 4, construction worker housing (HPK), and rest areas. This magnificent mosque stands on a 3.2-hectare plot with a building area of 61,596 square metres and a total capacity of up to 61,000 worshippers. The IKN State Mosque consists of four floors plus two mezzanine levels. Unlike a semi-spherical dome, the roof of the State Mosque features folded circular layers resembling a turban. Technically, it uses lightweight composite materials that are highly resistant to the tropical weather of Kalimantan. The IKN State Mosque is equipped with eco-friendly features, including a natural ventilation system that utilises wind from the surrounding forest.
