Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Persero), or INALUM, is strengthening its commitment to maintaining sustainable industrial practices through environmental management innovation and community empowerment.

This commitment is reflected in the eight awards received by the company’s Hydroelectric Power Plants (PLTA) at the 2026 Environmental and Social Innovation Awards (ENSIA).

Head of INALUM’s Strategic Services Group, Daniel Hutauruk, stated in an official statement in Jakarta on Wednesday that these awards are the result of the company’s commitment and hard work in driving operations focused on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects.

“We continue to encourage innovation so that every operational process can become more efficient, have low impact, and provide benefits to the environment and the community,” said Daniel.

ENSIA is a national award event organised by PT Sucofindo (Persero) to appreciate businesses and innovators for various innovations in the fields of environment, social issues, and business sustainability in Indonesia.

Of the eight awards, four achieved platinum status, specifically for emission reduction, water efficiency and reduction of water pollution load, reduction and utilisation of hazardous waste (B3), and waste management.

He explained that the company’s hydroelectric plants also earned three silver predicates in the categories of energy efficiency, biodiversity, and social innovation, and were also named the winner of the ENSIA 2026 innovation booth.

Furthermore, he stated that various initiatives are being undertaken to optimise resource use, suppress emissions, manage waste, and maintain environmental quality around operational areas.

Meanwhile, the awards in the fields of biodiversity and social innovation, according to Daniel, demonstrate the company’s efforts to preserve ecosystems while creating benefits for the communities surrounding its operational regions.

Commitment to innovation was also demonstrated through the ENSIA 2026 Innovation Booth, which successfully secured a winning predicate. This achievement showcases the environmental and social innovations developed by the company as part of its corporate sustainability transformation journey.

“We want to ensure that the innovations arising from hydroelectric operations do not only solve today’s problems but also serve as a foundation for continuous improvement in the future. The spirit is to ensure that increasingly efficient operations can go hand in hand with environmental protection and community empowerment,” Daniel continued.
