Inactive Cilacap Regent Files Pre-trial Motion Against KPK Over Suspect Status
The inactive Regent of Cilacap, Syamsul Auliya Rachman, has submitted a pre-trial application to contest his status as a suspect. Syamsul is currently implicated in an alleged extortion case investigated by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
‘Classification of the case: the legality of the enforcement measures regarding the designation of a suspect,’ according to the Case Search Information System (SIPP) of the South Jakarta District Court, as observed on Saturday (6/6/2026).
Syamsul filed this pre-trial motion on Wednesday (3/6) under case number 83/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL. The first hearing is scheduled to take place on Wednesday (17/6). The specific details of the petition’s claims (petitum) have not yet been displayed on the South Jakarta District Court’s SIPP.
In this case, both Syamsul and the Regional Secretary of Cilacap, Sadmoko Danardono (SAD), have been named suspects by the KPK in relation to alleged extortion. Both individuals are facing charges under Article 12 letter e and/or Article 12B of the Law on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes.
They are suspected of forcing officials within the Cilacap Regency Government to deposit funds intended for Eid al-Fitr bonuses (THR). The KPK seized Rp 610 million during a sting operation (OTT) involving Syamsul and others. It is alleged that Syamsul had set a target of up to Rp 750 million for the collection of these funds, which were intended to be distributed among members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).
