Inaccurate reporting

On behalf of Mr. Wisber Loeis, Director General for Foreign
Economic Relations, I wish to convey the Department's
disappointment over the article entitled America expected to
reinstall RI trade status, House told which came out in your
newspaper on July 5, 1994. The news item is not only inaccurate,
but it could also direly mislead your readers. In fact, Mr.
Wisber Loeis never made the statements before the Commission of
the House of Representatives quoted by your reporter. I can
hardly believe that such an inaccuracy could happen in your
prestigious newspaper.

In future, I would be most grateful if The Jakarta Post
double checked with the Department of Foreign Affairs, through my
office, whenever you have a report on sensitive issues which
could lead to a misinterpretation of important facts by your
readers.

IRAWAN ABIDIN

Note: We would like to express our sincere apology for the
inaccurate reporting and we thank you for your kind attention.
