INACA Promotes Urban Air Mobility and eVTOL Development at Advanced Air Mobility Shanghai

The Chairman of the Indonesia National Air Carrier Association (INACA), Denon Prawiraatmadja, attended and spoke at the international Advanced Air Mobility forum in Shanghai, China, on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. In a seminar titled ‘APAC & Middle East Market Access & Globalization Practices’, Denon presented Indonesia’s perspective on the development of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, as well as the future of the low-altitude economy. The founder and CEO of Whitesky Group delivered a presentation on ‘Fostering eVTOL Strategies Towards the Implementation Phase’, discussing strategies to transition eVTOL from exploration and demonstration stages to safe, scalable, and commercially viable operations. ‘Indonesia must not be just a spectator or an end market in the global eVTOL development. We must participate in building the operating systems, infrastructure, financing, and regulations so that this technology can address the real needs of an archipelagic nation,’ Denon said in a statement on Thursday, 23 July 2026. Denon emphasised that the future of Advanced Air Mobility is not solely determined by the sophistication of aircraft technology. He argued that infrastructure readiness, operational experience, regulatory frameworks, financing mechanisms, and cross-sector collaboration are essential foundations for bringing eVTOL to the implementation and commercial operation phase. This perspective is built on Denon’s extensive involvement in various aspects of Indonesia’s mobility ecosystem. As Chairman of INACA, he brings the aviation industry’s viewpoint, particularly regarding safety, certification, operator readiness, maintenance, and the application of international standards. As Founder and CEO of Whitesky Group, he shared practical experience in helicopter operations, commercial heliport development, and the provision of air mobility services across various sectors. Furthermore, his roles as an Advisory Board member of ITS Indonesia and Head of Infrastructure at the Indonesian Employers’ Association (APINDO) strengthen his perspective on transport integration, infrastructure development, business sector readiness, and public-private collaboration in shaping the future air mobility ecosystem. ‘UAM is not just about aircraft that can take off and land vertically. The bigger challenge is building an ecosystem that is safe, integrated, commercially viable, and provides direct benefits to the public and the business sector,’ Denon stated.
