INA, CIC, and SOFAZ Launch US$1 Billion Investment Platform for China–ASEAN Corridor
Three of the world’s leading sovereign wealth funds have officially forged a strategic collaboration by establishing the Galaxy Orientis China–ASEAN Investment Platform (CAIP). The alliance involves the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), China Investment Corporation (CIC), and the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ).
This private equity-based investment programme is specifically designed to capture long-term opportunities along the China–ASEAN economic corridor. At the first close, the programme has raised approximately US$520 million, with a total target under management of US$1 billion.
CAIP emerges amid trends of deepening trade integration between China and ASEAN, as well as the acceleration of supply chain adjustments in Southeast Asia. The platform targets high-quality investments across various strategic sectors, including industry, healthcare, consumer goods, business services, and technology.
CGS International Securities, an overseas unit of China Galaxy Securities, has been appointed as the General Partner, providing regional expertise, operational infrastructure, and an extensive network across Southeast Asian markets.
INA Acting CEO Eddy Porwanto stated that the programme represents a strategic step for Indonesia in building a dedicated investment corridor.
“For INA, this is the first investment in a strategically themed fund-of-funds model. Through this platform, we aim to facilitate the flow of long-term capital and global expertise into sectors that drive sustainable growth in Indonesia,” Eddy explained on Friday (17/4/2026).
CIC Chairman and CEO Zhang Qingsong added his optimism regarding ASEAN’s growth prospects. He hopes the fund will not only deliver solid financial returns but also promote regional economic prosperity and create mutually beneficial outcomes (win-win).
In agreement, SOFAZ CEO Israfil Mammadov emphasised that this inter-SWF partnership marks a historic milestone in accessing the world’s most dynamic economic corridor, while also serving as a strategy for diversifying Azerbaijan’s investment portfolio.
The signing ceremony for the platform’s inauguration took place on 13 April 2026 in Beijing, China. The event was attended by senior leaders from each institution, including CIC EVP Zhang Shaoqing, INA CIO Christopher Ganis, SOFAZ CIO Farhad Zeynalov, and CGS International Chairman Wu Peng.
This collaboration is expected to act as a catalyst for creating long-term economic value and strengthening industrial connectivity between China’s economic powerhouse and emerging markets in Southeast Asia.
