Jakarta — Yudian Wahyudi, head of the Indonesian Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), has expressed deep condolences over the death of Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, Try Sutrisno.

Until his passing, Try Sutrisno remained in his position as Vice Chairman of the BPIP Advisory Council.

“We extend our heartfelt sympathies on the passing of General (Retired) H. Try Sutrisno, who served as Vice Chairman of the BPIP RI Advisory Council until his death,” said Yudian when confirmed on Monday (2 March 2026).

Yudian remembered Try as a figure filled with dedication, discipline and compassion.

According to him, the departure of Try Sutrisno represents a significant loss for the Indonesian nation.

Additionally, Yudian expressed profound gratitude for the services and contributions of the deceased during his lifetime.

“We also extend our boundless gratitude for his services,” he said.

Try Sutrisno died at the age of 90 at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto Hospital in Jakarta on Monday (2 March 2026) at 06:58 local time.

The family stated that Indonesia’s sixth Vice President had no specific medical condition that caused his death.

“My father’s passing was due to his age; everything declines at that age. There was no specific illness; it was simply a matter of age—a decline in his respiratory capacity and similar age-related factors,” said Taufik at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto on Monday, as cited by Kompas TV.

Taufik said that prior to his death, Try had been hospitalised at RSPAD since 16 February 2026 after experiencing a loss of appetite.

According to him, the medical team at RSPAD and from the Presidential office had provided the best possible treatment to Try.

“(Hospitalised since) 16 February. So it was simply a sudden loss of appetite; he was brought here, his condition fluctuated, he was given medication and food,” said Taufik.
