REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, has assured that the prices and supply of essential goods will remain relatively stable in the lead-up to Eid al-Fitr. The government continues to monitor developments on the ground to guarantee the availability of goods for the public.

“We are continuously monitoring price and supply developments of essential goods through the Market and Essential Goods Monitoring System (SP2KP). Yesterday, we also conducted on-site inspections in Pidie, Aceh,” said Budi while inspecting the sale of local MSME products within the KAI Services business network at Gambir Station, Jakarta, on Tuesday (24 February 2026).

Based on the monitoring results, Budi said that the prices of essential goods are generally stable and the supply is maintained. However, in some areas, prices are still found to be above the Highest Retail Price (HET) or close to that limit.

“Indeed, there may be certain areas where prices have risen above or are equal to the HET, but in other areas, many prices are the same as or below the HET. However, overall, the prices of essential goods are relatively stable and in accordance with the HET,” Budi added.

For areas experiencing price increases, Budi said that the Ministry of Trade continues to coordinate to ensure that distribution and supply are not disrupted. The government wants to ensure that price stability remains maintained until the holiday arrives.

“So, for areas where prices may be slightly higher, we continue to coordinate to ensure that the supply is not disrupted, so that we can ensure that all prices and supplies are guaranteed in the run-up to Eid,” Budi continued.

During his visit to Pidie, Aceh, the Minister of Trade emphasised the importance of ensuring that the condition of areas previously affected by disasters remains safe in terms of prices and the distribution of goods.

“Yesterday, when we were in Pidie, Aceh, we wanted to ensure that the area, which was previously affected by disasters, was safe, and we saw that all prices were relatively stable,” said Budi.
