In the name of solidarity
In the name of solidarity
From Surabaya Post
As an international event, the SEA Games requires support from all the people, both physically and financially, to make it a success. It is not fitting to tarnish our image amid this example of Asian solidarity. For this very reason we should be willing to make sacrifices.
The fund raising drive through donations and sales of SEA Games stickers is a matter of necessity. However, the sales of the stickers must be made to those who are financially able, and economically disadvantage can have the option to buy them.
Through SEA Games and other sports events, Asian nations can draw closer together politically, economically, socially and culturally. The participating countries will be able to value Indonesia's credibility through the way it manages the sports event. The importance of the full involvement of the people as the SEA Games host is unquestioned.
We should allocate enough funds for this major event. To this end, SEA Games stickers should be on sale and attached to monthly utility bills, plane and railway tickets and expenditures at restaurants and the like.
