In South Tangerang, School Volunteer Collaboration Distributes Education Donations to 100 Special Santri and Organises Eid Clothing Shopping
Capitalising on the blessing of Ramadan 1447 H, PT Garudafood Putra Putri Jaya Tbk (Garudafood) and PT Mulia Boga Raya Tbk (MBR) through the Prochiz brand strengthened their commitment to inclusivity through concrete action for vulnerable groups. The two Indonesian companies collaborated with Sekolah Relawan to organise an event titled “Shopping Together & Education Donation for Special Santri,” held in the Bintaro area of South Tangerang yesterday.
The joint shopping activity was designed to provide 100 santri and orphaned children with an enjoyable shopping experience and material assistance in welcoming Eid al-Fitr. Participants came from various Islamic boarding schools and inclusive foundations across the Greater Jakarta region, including Pondok Pesantren Raudlatul Makfufin and Yayasan Sayap Ibu in South Tangerang, as well as Yayasan Peduli Kesejahteraan Yatim Disabilitas Islam Indonesia (YPKYDII) in Jakarta.
Beyond individual relief, Mulia Boga Raya (MBR), a subsidiary of Garudafood through the Prochiz brand, reaffirmed its commitment to advancing inclusive education. Prochiz channelled educational assistance totalling 30 million rupiah to the Islamic boarding schools and inclusive foundations where the participants studied. This assistance aims to support inclusive educational infrastructure, such as wheelchairs, Braille Qur’ans, and other inclusive learning media.
This step aligns with national data highlighting significant challenges for vulnerable groups in Indonesia. Several humanitarian organisations in Indonesia estimate there are approximately 4 million orphaned children. Meanwhile, UNICEF estimates place the number of children with disabilities in Indonesia at up to 2 million. Many of these vulnerable groups face limitations in accessing education and welfare, making programmes like this essential to reduce social inequality.
Dian Astriana, Head of Corporate Communications and External Relations of Garudafood Group, stated that this collaboration is not merely temporary assistance but part of the company’s dedication to education and social welfare. “Garudafood is committed to continuing to increase its contribution to society through beneficial and sustainable programmes. Through the ‘Shopping Together & Education Donation for Special Santri’ programme, we want to deliver tangible benefits and happiness to vulnerable groups, particularly in meeting the needs of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H,” said Dian Astriana.
Each child received shopping vouchers worth 500,000 rupiah that could be used freely to purchase Eid needs, such as new clothing or school supplies. This approach was taken to allow santri and orphaned children to experience the joy of welcoming the day of victory with the same delight as other children.
Rani Alfiani, Executive Director of Sekolah Relawan, expressed her appreciation for this collaborative initiative. According to her, the “Shopping Together & Education Donation for Special Santri” programme has a positive psychological impact on children’s confidence. “We greatly appreciate the concrete steps taken by Garudafood and Prochiz, which not only provide material assistance but also give the ‘experience’ right to special santri and orphaned children. For them, the opportunity to choose their own Eid clothes is a form of recognition of their independence and self-confidence. This collaboration is a concrete example of how the private sector can play an active role in creating an inclusive and humane social ecosystem,” said Rani Alfiani.
Beyond the Ramadan period, Garudafood consistently implements a comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme under the Garudafood Sehati umbrella. This programme focuses on environmental sustainability, education, health, community empowerment, and humanitarian assistance. This initiative serves not merely as a form of moral responsibility but is designed to deliver direct impact on community welfare and strengthen local economic fundamentals.
The “Shopping Together & Education Donation for Special Santri” event represents a concrete manifestation of the company’s effort to embrace vulnerable groups and keep them empowered and optimistic about their future. Garudafood is committed to continuing to strengthen this inclusivity initiative, ensuring that every step of the company’s growth is aligned with community welfare and efforts to advance education in Indonesia.
