In retaliation for an Israeli attack, Iran fires a volley of missiles and drones
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran announced its latest retaliatory strike against Israel. The Israeli military reported that missiles had been launched from Iran into Israeli territory.
According to Al Jazeera and AFP on Saturday 7 March 2026, Iran’s semi-official news agency Tasnim reported the attack. Iran’s state television also said that Tehran had fired a new salvo of drones and missiles at Israel.
The IRGC, Iran’s ideological wing of the armed forces, has begun firing drones and missiles ‘against targets in the occupied territory (Israel) and US bases in the area’, a government television presenter said.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military said its defence system was attempting to intercept the incoming projectiles.
The BBC also reported that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had detected missiles launched from Iran toward Israel. The military said its defences were operating to intercept the threat.
Alerts were sent by the Israel Home Front Command to mobile phones in the affected areas. The IDF urged the public to follow the instructions and take shelter in protected spaces.
