In Response to Deddy Sitorus, Gibran Invites DPR Members to Office in IKN

Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka has appreciated input from a DPR member to establish offices in the Nusantara Capital (IKN), and invited elements from the executive, judicial, and legislative branches to join in operating from there.

“Thank you for the input from the Honourable Member of Parliament Mr Deddy Sitorus. We will all office together in IKN,” said Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka in an official written statement received in Jakarta on Thursday.

“Because IKN has been designated as the political capital in 2028. Therefore, the conduct of the state, both from the executive, judicial, and legislative sides, must be fulfilled,” the Vice President added.

Previously, in a meeting with the Head of the IKN Authority (OIKN) Basuki Hadimuljono on Monday, 30 March, DPR RI Commission II member Deddy Sitorus touched on the idea of Vice President Gibran officing in IKN.

Deddy made that statement while emphasising the importance of utilising the buildings already constructed in IKN. He asked OIKN Head Basuki to discuss this with President Prabowo Subianto.

“I’ve been asking for that for a long time. Vice President, Minister of Forestry, Minister of Villages, Minister of Transmigration, go there, live there. That state money is an asset,” he said.

In response, OIKN Head Basuki Hadimuljono stated that Vice President Gibran could start officing in IKN this year because the buildings and supporting facilities have been completed.

According to Basuki, preparations have also been made by several Vice President’s staff who are already there.

Basuki hopes the plan for the Vice President to office in IKN can be realised soon.

“If it’s me, my house is already there now. So I hope that happens, that he will really office there. That’s my hope,” said Basuki.
