In need of help
In need of help
From Suara Pembaruan
I fully agree with President Abdurrahman Wahid's decision to ask the United States' for assistance in combating corruption, collusion and nepotism (KKN) in this country.
I once asked, in a relaxed manner, a friend of mine: "If you knew that your boss was involved in corruption, what would you do?" His answer was: "I wouldn't bother and would pretend not to know, as long as it did not harm my work."
I asked him further: "Why wouldn't you report the case to the police?" He said: "I'd have nothing to gain from doing that. On the other hand, misfortune may find me and I could be fired."
Then I asked another friend: "Why aren't the officials who are suspected of corruption investigated?" He answered: "They are backed by certain powers. The backers will interfere immediately if they are to be investigated. Do you think KKN in this country can be eliminated?" He boldly answered his own question: "Never!" And away he went.
Feeling extremely sad, I silently asked God: "Why was I born in this country?" So I earnestly call on President Bill Clinton to help us with his International Mission Force, or Mission Impossible Force, together with the Dark Justice, to combat KKN in this country.
I wish the law enforcers would not hesitate to mete out capital punishment for corruptors.
