Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni stated at the beginning of Ramadan that he would not hold an open house during Eid al-Fitr or Lebaran this year. This aligns with the stance of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, which has urged all state institutions to forgo halal bihalal activities. “Announcement to the Extended Family of the Ministry of Forestry. For Lebaran this year, I will once again not hold an open house. Colleagues who wish to go home for the holidays and gather with family should plan it well from now. I also will not accept any Eid gifts or parcels in any form. If you wish, those gifts could be redirected to our brothers and sisters who are more in need,” said Raja Juli, quoted from his Instagram @rajaantoni, on Thursday (19/3). He also invited all parties, especially in the Ministry of Forestry, to maintain health, stay focused on work, and worship during this blessed month of Ramadan. “May every effort we make be of value in goodness,” he concluded. In line with this, the government has officially urged all state institutions not to hold excessive open house or halal bihalal events during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2025 CE celebrations. Deputy Cabinet Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, at the Ministry of Defence building in Jakarta on Tuesday, said this step is taken as a form of empathy towards the public still facing difficult economic conditions. “We have issued a circular to all ministries and agencies to urge them not to be excessive in organising open houses or halal bihalal,” he said. Prasetyo stated that the circular addressed to all ministries and state agencies is a direct instruction from President Prabowo Subianto. Prasetyo emphasised that the spirit of this year’s celebrations must be accompanied by simplicity. On that occasion, he reminded state officials to be sensitive to the social situation, given that many citizens are still in dire straits. “After all, many of our brothers and sisters are still not in good condition. So we urge not to be too excessive,” he said. When asked about plans for an open house at the Presidential Palace, Prasetyo has not given a definite answer. He stated that certainty regarding that agenda is still awaiting further developments in the situation.
