In Honour of International Women's Day, Here Are Three Inspiring Stories of Indonesian Migrant Workers
In order to mark International Women’s Day, Aidha presents the stories of three Indonesian migrant workers who were selected through a community vetting process on the Campaign for Good platform. The campaign is run by Aidha in partnership with Campaign for Good and focuses on financial education, peer learning, and community support as steps to build confidence, responsibility, and long-term personal development. Through structured training, storytelling, and community participation, the campaign creates a safe and supportive space for women to reflect on their life journeys, sharpen their skills, and encourage each other as they face similar challenges. Launched in December 2025, #BersamaBerdaya brings three Indonesian migrant workers who were selected through the community vetting process as Duta Berdaya (peer mentors). Each Duta Berdaya receives grant support, training in storytelling and digital communications, and the opportunity to share their experiences through a platform featuring community curation. The campaign encourages women to unlock their potential, cultivate practical leadership, and motivate one another in facing challenges, turning their life experiences into tangible forces for change. The first Duta Berdaya is Fitria Hendrawati. For Fitria Hendrawati, stepping forward is not just a choice but a responsibility. When her father fell ill and the family nearly lost everything, Fitria became the breadwinner, supporting the needs of her child, her parents, and the extended family. With work experience and limited English proficiency, she decided to seek work opportunities abroad to rebuild her family’s stability. “My journey has not been easy, both emotionally and in daily life,” Fitria said in a press release on Sunday 8 March 2026. Determined to keep moving forward, Fitria found Aidha. What once seemed complicated gradually became easier. Step by step, she developed leadership capabilities, improved her English, and learned to make wiser financial decisions.
