Jakarta (ANTARA) — President Prabowo Subianto summoned a number of economic ministers to his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, on Sunday afternoon to discuss Indonesia’s strategic direction ahead of economic negotiations with the United States.

“During the meeting, the President emphasized two important points,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in a statement in Jakarta.

The first is ensuring that every position Indonesia takes in economic negotiations with any country delivers the best possible benefit for national interests. The most immediate focus, Teddy said, is preparation for the upcoming economic negotiations with the United States.

“In particular, the near-term negotiations with the United States must yield the best and most advantageous outcome for Indonesia,” he said.

According to Teddy, the President wants every negotiation process to drive increased domestic industrial productivity while strengthening Indonesia’s position in global industrial supply chains.

The second point, Teddy said, is that economic cooperation must not only be short-term in nature but also strengthen the foundations of national industry.

He added that the President affirmed that every economic policy adopted by the government must deliver concrete benefits for Indonesia without delay. This directive serves as a guide for ministers to formulate strategic steps that are swift, measurable, and have a direct impact on national economic growth.

Among those attending the meeting were Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.

President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to visit the United States on 19 February 2026 to sign an Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) with President Donald Trump, as well as attend the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the details of the tariff agreement are still awaiting finalization, but Indonesia’s export tariffs to the US have already been reduced from 32 percent to 19 percent, and the government has asked the public to wait until the entire process is completed.
