Jakarta, VIVA – The President Director and CEO of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (BNBR), Anindya Bakrie, revealed the core vision behind the establishment of PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk (VKTR), as a pioneer in transport electrification focused on developing electric commercial vehicles (EV) such as buses and trucks. He shared this in the presence of President Prabowo Subianto, during the inauguration of VKTR’s electric commercial vehicle assembly plant in Magelang, Central Java. “Mr President, from the beginning, VKTR—or as we call it, Vektor—has two core ideas, Mr President. The first is decarbonisation. How to move towards net zero emissions by 2060 or even faster. And the second is economic independence,” Anindya said, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube, on Thursday, 9 April 2026. He added that these two ideas also encompass the agenda of energy resilience and reducing fuel imports. For VKTR, Anindya stressed that the electric vehicle (EV) electrification agenda is no longer a choice but a strategic necessity for Indonesia. “Mr President always teaches us that in the history of development, crises often become opportunities for great leaps,” he stated. Anindya explained that VKTR, or Vektor—which in physics means magnitude and direction—is believed by his team to have significant scale for Indonesia with its natural resources, human capital, and direction towards that independence goal. “So this is the momentum, Mr President, where we see with your spirit to become a leapfrog moving forward,” Anindya said. Additionally, Anindya expressed his thanks to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, who has provided facilitation for permits from the start of the VKTR plant’s construction to the support provided by VKTR through the Energy Transition Task Force in the future. “Your visit certainly provides great inspiration and motivation, so we can continue building new industries for the future. And this proves that our nation is brave, capable, and able to stand on its own feet as you, Mr President, always proclaim,” he said.
