In Front of Araghchi, China Affirms Support for Iran, US Attacks Illegal

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEIJING – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with China’s top diplomat in Beijing on Wednesday. This meeting underscores the close relations between the two countries.

Araghchi’s visit, announced by the state news agency Xinhua, marks his first trip to China since the US-Israel war in Iran.

That attack triggered the most severe shock to global oil supplies in history and damaged China’s energy security, as the world’s largest importer of crude oil.

During the meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi described the US and Israeli military actions against Iran as “illegitimate”.

Wang stated that the Middle East is at a critical nadir. “A comprehensive ceasefire is urgently needed for regional stability,” he said.

He also reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to de-escalation efforts. Direct dialogue between the parties is considered extremely important.

Foreign Minister Araghchi expressed appreciation for China’s firm stance in condemning the US-Israel war. He said that cooperation between Tehran and Beijing would be stronger than ever before.
