In First Week, Central Java Police's TOSS TB Programme Identifies 1,387 Pulmonary TB Suspects
The Find, Treat Until Cured Tuberculosis (TOSS TB) programme implemented by the Central Java Regional Police (Polda Jateng) has begun to show positive results. In the first week of tracing, covering the period 3-10 June 2026, a total of 1,387 suspected pulmonary TB sufferers were identified through collaboration between Bhabinkamtibmas (community police officers) and health workers across various regions.
The programme involves thousands of Bhabinkamtibmas who have been trained as TB Tracers to visit people who have had close contact with TB patients. They conduct initial screening, provide health education, and offer support to promote early detection and prevent the spread of the disease.
Head of Medical and Health Affairs for Polda Jateng, Senior Commissioner Agung Hadi, said the achievement indicates the TOSS TB programme is beginning to run effectively in broadening the reach of tuberculosis case detection within the community.
“In the first week of tracing, 1,387 suspects have been traced. This shows the role of Bhabinkamtibmas as TB Tracers is starting to make a real contribution to expanding the reach of early tuberculosis detection in the community,” he stated on Saturday (13/6).
According to Agung, the close relationship Bhabinkamtibmas officers have with the public is a key strength in supporting health programmes. In addition to assisting with tracing, they also educate residents that TB is a curable disease if treatment is followed correctly and completed.
Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations for Polda Jateng, Senior Commissioner Artanto, emphasised that the achievement proves the TOSS TB programme has not stopped at the training and socialisation stage, but has been realised in concrete actions that provide direct benefits to the community.
“The achievement of reaching 1,387 residents in the first week is proof that collaboration between the National Police and health workers can deliver tangible benefits to the community,” said Artanto.
He added that Polda Jateng will continue to promote tracing, education, and support related to TB down to the village and sub-district level. Through the TOSS TB programme, it is hoped that public awareness of the importance of early detection and treatment until cured will increase, so that efforts to break the chain of TB transmission in Central Java can run more optimally.
